Hatshepsut was one of the most
admired women pharoahs of
all time back in the ancient
Egyptian's period of time.
When I first heard that
she went from the title
God's Wife to Queen I thought that she just achieved it. But, I was wrong I had read to a book called Hatshepsut and the Ancient Egyptians to find out what really happened. Back to the old title she had. She earned the title of God's Wife from her grandmother. It was also her favorite one.
When she was 14 years old her father, Tuthmosis I, died. One year later she married her half brother, who's name was Tuthmosis II. Nine months later she had a daughter in which she and Tuthmosis II named Neferere.
When Neferere married she obtained a son-in-law. Tuthmosis III. She was then appionted regent by her son-in-law for he was too young to be King of Egypt. After a few years she proclaimed her self King Hatshepsut of Egypt ( Doesn't that sound lame? What kind of lady would call herself king if she was a queen!). Being the first woman accepted in a male-dominated society, she was the first sucessful woman to sit on Egypt's throne.
